The Business Development Manager (BDM) provides a critical link between Target Markets, Strategic customers and Epta’s product and service teams. The BDM is the eyes & ears of the Business Growth Strategy, leveraging their communication skills and drive to engage influencers and decision makers within the Retail End-User sector. The BDM will be supported by Epta’s ‘subject matter experts’ to create new relationships, positioning new equipment, and pre and post installation services. The BDM will have a growth mindset and be adept at solution sales, combining products & services in creative ways to add value and establish differentiated propositions.

Although primarily field based and customer focused, the BDM will work closely with Marketing, Technica (Product/ Service Development) and Account Management peers to drive new growth opportunities across the entire Epta product and service portfolio.

This is a full time (37.5hrs) permanent role based out of our Bradford Office, with hybrid working with a salary in the region of £45,000/ annum, a performance bonus and a company vehicle/ allowance.

 

 

Your Contribution (Job description)

You will be customer focused, qualifying and closing leads and opportunities across the entire Epta product and service portfolio. Your insights will inspire the development of new propositions in existing and emerging markets, driving sustained and strategic growth. Your energy and resilience will open new relationships and generate customer curiosity in Epta. 

Responsibilities 

Engagement & Qualification

  • Responding to inbound enquiries, qualifying opportunities and establishing decision maker relationships. 
  • Working in collaboration with Marketing and Business Development peers, proactively explore new markets, identifying and selling existing and new products and services positioned to meet the existing and emerging needs of the clients.

Offer Development

  • Establishing value added gaps in Epta’s current propositions, the BDM will provide outline proposals to Epta Technica to ensure continuity of offer and market growth opportunities.
  • Research and develop relationships with new partners, helping expand our channel and strategic alliance strategies. 

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Liaise regularly with Marketing, and Technica to ensure alignment to market communication and development.
  • Maintain and update opportunity and account intelligence in Salesforce CRM.
  • Take full ownership of your sales pipeline and contribute to forecasting and reporting activities.

 

Your Journey (qualifications & skills)

You will have worked in complex product or service-based organisations, and will have demonstrated a solution led mindset, building relationships with Decision Makers and Influencers. Your journey will have led you to recognise the value in building reciprocal relationships and long collaboration, you will have experience in working with internal subject matter experts and recognising your role as a team player in business development. 

  • 2 years + experience in a B2B Business Development.
  • Technical Background or Qualification (Refrigeration Experience not Essential).
  • Strong research and analytical skills – able to assess company and buyer potential quickly.
  • Familiarity with B2B sales and marketing funnels; experience with CRMs and sales intelligence tools.
  • Curious and customer-focused, with an instinct for uncovering value and opportunity.
  • Detail-oriented & commercially aware.
  • Enthusiastic about aligning marketing and business development in a smarter, more strategic way.
