As Creative Director at Toaster EMEA, you are at the heart of the creative process and leadership. You will work closely with our strategists, producers, designers, engineers, and our clients to produce creative concepts, design solutions and tech innovations to the highest standards. 

You will bring an excellent understanding of what makes great marketing – from standout branding and engaging websites to integrated campaigns that span animation, social, events and other communications. You’ll have an awareness of technical possibilities and be able to collaborate with our Technical Director to understand how we bring our ideas to life.

Another important part of the role is understanding our clients and how Toaster can assist them across the briefs we receive, sometimes asking informed questions of the brief or identifying opportunities for further work. Toaster works with many marketing teams across all regions, we expect our Creative Director to improve our relationships with clients and spark further opportunities. Being able to spot opportunities and pushing the team to think entrepreneurially is key. 

The Creative Director will work with the leadership team and producers to scope each project, agree delegation of workload and responsibility, and ensure projects are delivered within budget and to the highest creative standards. 

What you’ll be doing: 
  • Inspire, mentor and develop the EMEA creative team 
  • Identify talent gaps, manage freelance resources and recruit as needed 
  • Oversee performance appraisals and career development 
  • Bring your contacts to Toaster’s existing blackbook of freelancers for any overflow work
  • Interview and select new team members as appropriate
  • Consult and collaborate with tech and strategy on all projects
  • Attend and play an active role in all briefing meetings and project kickoffs 
  • Review all creative briefs, working in collaboration with strategy - providing extra value and pushing for the most effective outcomes 
  • Delegate creative ownership of projects as appropriate
  • Oversee all creative output and ensure it meets the high Toaster standard
  • Collaborate with the Toaster Global creative directors when appropriate

Creative
  • Exceptional working knowledge of marketing design, interactive communications and brand development
  • Strong understanding of the creative process and the willingness to define and adapt what works for your team and our projects 
  • Demonstrated talent for high-calibre creative concepting and writing for both online and offline projects
  • Powerful brainstormer 
  • Expert ability to work on creative concepts both within a team and individually
  • Expert knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals and typography 
  • Thorough understanding of art direction 
  • Thorough understanding of production for both online and offline elements
  • Exceptional ability to generate ideas and provide creative consultation within brainstorm or workshop environments
  • Expert-level understanding of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma and ability to learn new tools when required 
  • Working knowledge of Google products
  • Strong grasp of the Google brand
Technical
  • Experienced in digital innovation and a good understanding of the creative-tech intersection.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and clients.
  • Experienced in wireframing, prototyping, and UX methodologies.
