We are looking for an Event Manager  who can turn ideas into extraordinary moments — someone who thrives on innovation, leads with confidence, and drives revenue through exceptional event execution. This position is part of the Sales & Marketing team who are responsible for reactive group sales. By application of strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills this position is responsible for preparing all event documentation and co-ordinating with hotel departments and the customers to ensure consistent, high level service throughout all the phases of the events, administration of contracts and inputting group bookings/rooming lists into Opera booking system.

JOB SUMMARY

The Events Manager must have impeccable attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills to be able to competently deliver all aspects of the role to the expected standard. The ability to multi task, prioritise and use your initiative are key skills required for this role. This role will have direct client interaction and also admin work.

Key duties of the role include:

  • Effectively manage customer budgets to maximize revenue and meet customer needs to expand customer base for group/catering sales opportunities.
  • To co-operate with other departments thereby ensuring a harmonious working environment and maximising efficiency.
  • To have a full understanding of events strategy for the hotel and the products offered.
  • Setting up and maintaining a total group processing system including diary and chase systems, deposit handling, follow up actions, and confirmed/provisional group filing.
  • Occasional weekend and evening shifts are required.

Professional attributes, skills & experience:

  • 2-3 years experience in a hotel event sales/planning position or relevant event experience.
  • Experience with weddings and social events is desirable 
  • Excellent command of the English language - both written & spoken.
  • Strong analytical skills required as well as knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Strong customer development and relationship management skills
  • Ability to persuade, lead, and confidently handle objections and resolve customer issues.
  • Effective decision making skills
  • Manage, develop & nurture the team
  • Passion for Sales and understanding of processes; can effectively up sell products and services; can bring a sale to closure
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a “can-do” attitude
