Our Communications and Corporate Affairs team strives to be a gold-standard team, enabling purpose-led conversations, true to our character. Reporting directly to the Leadership Team, the team advises the firm on external and internal communications programmes. This includes a communications programme for our Managing Partner, strategic announcements, PR campaigns and internal communications campaigns to drive behaviour change. You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

We’re looking for an Internal Communications Manager to join our firmwide Internal Communications team.

In this role, you’ll help connect colleagues with our firm’s strategy and business priorities, bringing our story to life and driving leadership and strategy engagement across the firm. You’ll be a talented communicator and natural relationship builder, someone who can think strategically and deliver brilliantly. From developing communication plans to creating compelling content, you’ll play a key role in helping our team achieve even greater impact. You’ll also champion high standards across all our communications and campaigns, staying curious about the latest trends in internal communications and beyond.

 

What you'll do

  • Develop and deliver internal communication plans that support the firm’s strategy, culture and business priorities. Align these efforts with the broader internal communications agenda, providing targeted, relevant and timely communications that inform and inspire. 
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify communication needs, shape messages and deliver effective communications. Keep stakeholders informed of activity, progress, challenges, and results. 
  • Create and manage engaging firmwide campaigns that bring strategic priorities to life. Curate and share stories that celebrate people, collaboration and success across the business. 
  • Plan and deliver quality content, ensuring the right message reaches the right audience through channels key internal channels (intranet, newsletters, town halls, Viva Engage, digital signage, etc.), maintaining a consistent tone of voice and narrative across all channels.  
  • Support the development and improvement of communication channels and platforms. 
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of communication activity and share insights to evolve future plans and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Link in with the wider IC team on priorities, messages, channels and communications sequencing. 
  • Respond swiftly to emerging communications needs and tactical demands. 
  • Champion quality and creativity by maintaining the highest standards across all communications, ensuring everything we deliver connects with our people in the right way. 
  • Play an integral part in the Internal Communications 5-year growth plans and how we improve IC at BDO.  

 

You’re a brilliant communicator who combines strategic insight with the ability to deliver exceptional execution. You thrive in a collaborative environment, build strong relationships quickly, and aren’t afraid to challenge or innovate to get the best results.

 

You’ll also bring:

  • Proven experience developing and delivering internal communications strategies and campaigns, ideally in a complex, partnership or professional services environment.
  • Worked for large complex national or global business .
  • Experience supporting leadership visibility, strategy communications or transition programmes.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills — equally confident drafting strategy updates or digital content.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders with diplomacy and confidence.
  • A strong grasp of the internal communications channel mix, including tools such as SharePoint and Viva Engage.
  • A proactive, creative approach to communications — always looking for better, smarter ways to engage people.
  • Demonstrable project management skills, with an ability to deliver high-quality work at pace.
  • A collaborative mindset, aligned with BDO’s values and culture.
  • Integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential or sensitive information.
